| A
large crowd was once again on hand to witness the annual Murray
Grey National Show and Sale, along with other associated activities,
such as the Annual General Meeting of the Society, the Banquet
of Beef (this year sponsored by Breelong Farms) and the
Youth Ambassador Awards, in Wodonga between April 27th and 29th.
In all there were 85 registered
buyers in attendance at the Sale, which followed the National
Show judging earlier in the day (please
Click Here for full Show results), who parted with $195,000
for 62 lots, for an average price of $3144.00.
Bulls
sold to a top of $13,000, with 26 bulls of the 35 bulls offered
being sold, averaging $3,490, for a clearance of 74%.
The
top priced lot of the sale was the bull 'Rogialyn Zinger', Lot
22, offered by Rogialyn Murray Greys and purchased by Milton
Moore of Blackwood Murray Grey Stud, Boyup Brook,
Western Australia.

The
next highest price of the sale was $8,250, paid by Alan Marshall
of Karakara Stud, Claremont W.A. for Lot 56, 'Rogialyn Flirt
Z7', who had earlier been named Champion Junior Female, Grand
Champion Female and Supreme Champion Exhibit at the National
Show.

Marshall was also the successful purchaser of Lot 48 at $3,500,
'Cratloe Jennifer W35', the Senior Champion Female, which
was offered by IH & CA Burnside.
Of the 35 females offered, the top price paid was
$8,250, with an average of $3,142.

Other activities that were held
over the three days of proceedings included the conducting of
the Annual General Meeting of the Murray Grey Beef Cattle Society,
which was attended by approximately one hundred members.

was then followed by the the 'Banquet of Beef' on the
Saturday night, sponsored by Breelong Farms, where the
large crowd were enthralled by motivational speaker John
Coutis, after which the presentations were made for the
Youth Ambassador competition, a Semen Auction was held
as a fund raiser for Murray Grey Youth and Howard Charles
then entertained the crowd with a recital of some of his
own his own unique bush verse. |
