A total of $4,825 is up for grabs from the MGBCS across the open and Murray Grey steer sections, with a guranteed $1,225 to be paid out for the Murray Grey only classes. In the carcase section, the highest scoring carcase by a registered Murray Grey sire will win $500, the second highest $250 and the third highest $125.
Charity Fundraising The MGBCS Ltd is pleased to announce it’s partnership with the McGrath Foundation during the Royal Canberra Show in 2011.
With many MGBCS members having a family member or friend who has been affected by breast cancer, the organisers saw the Murray Grey Feature as a wonderful opportunity to take steps to support the McGrath Foundation.
The McGrath Foundation supports breast care nurses in rural and regional Australia and educates young women to be breast aware.
A major aspect of the fundraising will involve the auction of one of two Murray Grey Charity Steers that will compete in the special Murray Grey steer classes and the National Capital Steer and Heifer Hoof and Hook competition. The McGrath Foundation steer will be prepared by John and Nicole Rodd of Wagga Murray Greys. Full proceeds from the auction of this steer will be donated to the McGrath Foundation.
Other fundraising activities for the McGrath Foundation will include the auction of cricket and sporting memorabilia, including a cricket ball autographed by Shane Warne and an encased cricket shirt, bat and ball also autographed by Shane Warne among other items. These items will be available for auction during the show and at the Murray Grey dinner on Friday the 25th of February at the Yowani Country Club.
John and Nicole Rodd have also once again kindly opted to prepare the Country Hope Charity Steer. All proceeds raised from the sale of this steer will go to the Country Hope Trust, 'A country based, family centred support organisation for children diagnosed with cancer and other life threatening illnesses'.
Pink Polo Shirts In an effort to further promote their support of the McGrath Foundation, all exhibitors of Murray Grey animals during the Murray Grey Feature judging will be required to wear pink polo shirts that will sport the McGrath Foundation Logo. These shirts are available for exhibitors and the general public alike and can be purchased from the MGBCS. Click here for more information. Presentation Dinner
