The MGBCS Ltd is pleased to announce its fundraising initiative in support of the McGrath Foundation during the Royal Canberra Show in 2011. The Royal Canberra Show in 2011 will see Murray Greys line up as the Feature breed of the show. And with many MGBCS members having a family member or friend who has been affected by breast cancer, the organisers saw the Murray Grey Feature as a wonderful opportunity to take steps to support the McGrath Foundation.
The McGrath Foundation aims to place McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities right across Australia and increase breast awareness in young women.
A number of great events have been organised for Murray Grey enthusiasts during the Royal Canberra Show in 2011. It will be during these events that the MGBCS, its members and friends will be raising funds to support the McGrath Foundation in their quest to introduce more breast care nurses.
A major aspect of the fundraising will involve the auction of one of two Murray Grey Charity Steers that will compete in the special Murray Grey steer classes and the National Capital Steer and Heifer Hoof and Hook competition. The McGrath Foundation steer will be prepared by John and Nicole Rodd of Wagga Murray Greys. Full proceeds from the auction of this steer will be donated to the McGrath Foundation.
Other fundraising activities will include the auction of cricket and sporting memorabilia, including a cricket ball autographed by Shane Warne and an encased cricket shirt, bat and ball also autographed by Shane Warne among other items. These items will be available for auction during the show and at the Murray Grey dinner on Friday the 25th of February at the Yowani Country Club.
In an effort to further promote their support of the McGrath Foundation, all exhibitors of Murray Grey animals during the Murray Grey Feature judging will be required to wear pink polo shirts that will sport the McGrath Foundation Logo. These shirts are available for exhibitors and the general public alike and can be purchased from the MGBCS. To purchase a Pink Polo, please click here. For more information, please contact:
