WELCOME TO THE HOME PAGE OF

MURRAY GREY YOUTH

The Murray Grey Youth Program is open to all young (25 years and under) cattle enthusiasts. The program provides members with education on beef cattle in an environment of fun and creativity.

Murray Grey Youth also provides many prizes for its members, through the National Ambassador Competition staged at the Murray Grey National Show and Sale each year. 

Prizes include an annual overseas six week Study Tour of New Zealand, entry to the four day Tocal Beef Cattle Judging School, an Educational Grant to the value of $500, and the opportunity to win a Murray Grey Youth Heifer. 


Mission Statement
"To become industry leaders and take breed development through to the next century and beyond. To provide stepping-stones towards personal and professional development which will aid in establishing successful careers in the beef industry." 


The Membership Categories that are available are:

Junior Member



Eligibility
- for for people under 25 years of age 
breeding registered Murray Grey cattle. ("registered" means pedigree breeding stock able to be registered in the Society's Herd Book.)

Services Available:

  • Able to register animals.

  • Ability to performance record using Breedplan.

  • Able to attend the Annual General Meeting.

  • Receive all Society publications and catalogues.

  • Unique prefix & tattoo letters for your use only.

  • Access to animal pedigree and information.

  • Use of the Society database to acquire particular information.

  • Join the Seedstock Code of Practice.

    Youth Member



    Eligibility - for those not engaged in breeding cattle, 
    but who have an interest or connection in 
    commercial Murray Greys.

    AIMS OF MURRAY GREY YOUTH

    • Development of leadership, teamwork participation, self confidence and communication skills.

    • Develop knowledge of the beef industry and the opportunities it offers young people.

    • Create opportunities for young people to gain enterprise and livestock management skills required for beef production.

    • Offer education of young people to enable them to understand future beef industry technological developments.

    • Raise the profile of the Murray Grey beef cattle breed and develop marketing strategies to increase its demand.
