Eminent start to Murray Grey Northern Bull Sale

Spirited bidding has seen a strong start for the Murray Grey Northern Bull Sale, Roma QLD.

Murray Grey Beef Cattle Society Ltd President, Rob Walker opened the sale by encouraging potential buyers to bid up on the quality bulls on offer. This sentiment was reiterated by auctioneer Geoff Maslen who commented on the great draft of bulls on offer.

Nine vendors sold 36 bulls for an average of $4,056 and a top of $6,000 to achieve a 92% clearance.

The top price bull was offered by Gary Buller of the Monterey Murray Grey Stud, WA who had travelled over 4000km to be in attendance at the sale.
Monterey Eminent E184 sold for $6,000 to Arthur Versace, ‘Mt Organ’, Wandoan QLD.

Weighing in at 960kg, Eminent boasted an EMA of 136cmsq and a scrotal of 40cm.

Monterey sold nine bulls for an average of $4,889, while Tim Perkins, The Ultimate Murray Greys, Miles QLD cleared 11 bulls for an average of $3,773.

Alan Zerbst, Burnett Downs Pastoral Co, Brigalow QLD, sold six bulls averaging $3,500; Peter and Margaret Smith, Cassino Murray Greys Wellingrove NSW, sold three averaging $3,167 and the Hudson Family, Rogilla Park Murray Greys, Dorrigo NSW achieved an average of $4,500 for their three bulls.

The second top price of $5,500 was achieved several times with Shell-Dee Brilliant selling to the Paterson Family, ‘Colaroy’, Charleville QLD; Rogilla Park Elswick to Stehr Holdings, Goondiwindi QLD; Monterey Eventful to Kevin and Trish Vayro, Miles QLD; Monterey Steamroller to Kanundah Station, Kalgoorlie WA and Monterey Eclipse to the Worsnop Family, ‘Beechal’, Cheepie QLD.

Volume buyer on the day was TJ and A Bradstreet, St George QLD who walked away with seven bulls for an average of $3,714.
