Fantastic support for Murray Grey Youth
2011With a revamped format, the fundraising activities for the Murray Grey Youth during the 2011 Woodbourn Murray Grey Youth Ambassador Awards and the National Show & Sale drew unbridled support from the greater Murray Grey community, with a total of $11,100 being raised.
This money will go a long way to continue the growth of the Woodbourn Murray Grey Youth Ambassador Awards, with the aim of introducing a much bigger overseas scholarship.
$7,850 of the funds raised came from the Grand Champion Semen Auction which saw semen from some of the Grand Champion Bulls from various Royal Shows from the past 12 months offered for sale.
The Murray Grey Youth would like to thank the following that donated semen for the Murray Grey Youth Semen Auction:
Ayr Park Murray Greys
Bottlesford Murray Greys
Watermill Pastoral Co.
Willawa Murray Greys
Yamba Murray Greys
Winning bidders & the donators have been informed by mail, as to the results of the auction & have also been provided with information to organise payment & delivery of semen.
A further $3,250 was raised following the re-introduction of the offering of a donated heifer for auction during the National Show & Sale, with the proceeds of the sale going to the Murray Grey Youth to help with the running of the Woodbourn Ambassador Award.
In 2011, Geoff & Kate Buick of the Arki Murray grey Stud donated the heifer, Windhaven Fly With Me to the Youth. Members of the Murray Grey Youth visited the Arki Stud selected the heifer out that would be offered for sale. The heifer was then prepared by particpants of the Woodbourn Murray Grey Youth Ambassador Award.
Special thanks must go to Geoff & Kate Buick for their generous donation and to the under-bidders and eventual buyer Robert Hage of the River Glen Murray Grey Stud, West Wyalong NSW.
