Grand Champion steer for Tullibardine

Keeping with a tradition of success in the Wagin Woolarama trade cattle section, Tullibardine Murray Grey Stud exhibited the Grand Champion Trade Steer with a purebred Murray Grey.

The steer won the heavyweight section of judging before receiving judges Primaries Katanning representative Wayne Fuchsbichler’s and RBG meat Industry consultant Shane Fuchsbichler’s nod as the overall champion.

The soft-muscled, well-finished youngster weighed 472kg, had an EMA of 93cmsq, rump fat of 7mm, rib fat of 9mm and finished with 92 points out of a possible 100.

Shane Fuchsbichler said it was a tight class but the Grand Champion steer had great conformation and would dress out well at about 240kg.

‘He had a good fat score and a very good temperament’, Mr Fuchsbichler said.

The good news didn’t stop there for the Murray family with the same steer going on to make a record top price of $3,600 during the Wagin Woolarama Trade Sale.

It was the second year running the Murray family had received the top price not only for a purebred Murray Grey but also for the Champion heavyweight.

It was return top price buyer Primaries Katanning Wayne Fuchsbichler, who bought the well muscled steer on behalf of Meat the Butcher owners Glen & Louise Fuchsbichler, Dog Swamp.

At 472kg liveweight, the price equated to $7.63 per kilogram.
