Murray Grey steers continue to impress
2011Following consistent performances by Murray Grey steers in carcase competitions around Australia in 2011, the Murray Greys at the Adelaide Royal certainly did not disappoint, taking out Reserve Champion Light Domestic Led Steer Carcase & Reserve Champion Heavy Domestic Led Steer Carcase.
A steer exhibited by the Bottlesford Murray Grey Stud took out Reserve Champion Light Domestic Led Steer. Sired by Monterey Sterling C344 and out of a commercial Bottlesford Murray Grey cow, the steer had a liveweight of 395kg, dressed at 55%, had an EMA of 75sqcm and rib and rump fats of 3mm and 5mm respectively.
A Lindsay bred steer, exhibited by Grant High Shcool, won Reserve Champion Heavy Domestic Led Steer Carcase. The 510kg liveweight steer, dressed at 58%, had an EMA of 87sqcm and rib and rump fats of 7mm and 9mm respectively.
