Murray grey steers shine at Hamilton

In the usual fashion Murray Grey steers have once again competed successfully in the Hamilton Beef Expo, placing well across all hoof classes, and a clean sweep of the Heavyweight Carcase Class.

The Lightweight hoof section saw a Murray Grey take second with a steer exhibited by Des & Anne Slattery Cullenya Murray Greys, with Murray Greys also placing fourth and fifth from twenty four entries.

Heavyweights on the hoof went one better with a Murray Grey steer by Ronsard Zeus Z19, exhibited by J & C Crothers winning first place. Murray Grey steers also placed second, fourth and fifth from eleven entries.

After performing well on the hoof, Murray Greys did not disappoint in the carcase section. A Murray Grey steer exhibited by the Good Shepherd College place third in the Lightweight carcase class.

In the Heavyweight section a Murray Grey clean sweep was achieved with Chris & sarah Hines winning the class with a steer sired by Lindsay West Y78.

The highest scoring Murray Grey carcase for the 2011 Hamilton Expo was a joint effort with steers exhibited by Chris & sarah Hines and the Good Shepherd College both achieving 82 points.
