2015 Royal Queensland Show, Paddock to Plate Competition

Australian farmers have the chance to cash in on more than $45,000 in prize money with the RNA today launching the nation’s richest competition of its kind – the RNA Paddock to Palate Competition presented by Mort & Co.

Now in its eighteenth year, prize money has increased from $7,000 to a whopping $45,000 with the Export Class tripling its prize money (steers monitored over 100 days) and the addition of an exciting new class – Trade Class (steers monitored over 70 days).

We would like to work closely with the breed societies to promote this competition to your client and stakeholder base as this competition becomes recognised globally as being well rounded, professionally managed as well as the richest.

The Competition is 4 phased:

1st Phase; Class 37 – 100 day Feedlot Competition and Class 38 – 70 day Feedlot Competition; for best aggregate weight gain for a Pen of 6 Steers
2nd Phase; Carcase Competition for best aggregate Pen
3rd Phase; MSA Eating Quality Competition, where MSA grading models predict eating quality of 40 muscles by 6 different methods
4th Phase; Beef Taste Off, a palate competition, where a portion of striploin is cooked and judged

Maximum of 3 entries/pens per class per exhibitor. All entries to consist of a pen of 7 steers, with the best 6 being judged in the competition.
