Dunrobyn Park Pens Show Record

At the recent Warialda show, Dunrobyn Park Murray Greys create history by winning all seven (pen of three) classes in the Prime Cattle Section.

With the district still recovering from drought, organisers were pleased with the 89 head of cattle that were put before the judge, Ian Durkin.

Geoff and Vicki Smith of “Dalkeith” Warialda won the Champion Vealer: From classes 1,2,3&4, which went on to win Champion Beast of the show.

Kim Lucas of “Nullabor” Warialda won the Champion Yearling or Steer: From classes 5,6&7 and Reserve Champion Beast of the show.

Dunrobyn Park Murray Greys won Champion Pen 3 Vealers: From classes 8,9,10,&11. Champion Pen 3 Yearlings or Steers From Classes: 12,13&14. Heaviest Beast of the show: Winner f class 7, a Murray Grey steer weighing 714kg, and a further two firsts and three seconds in single classes.

Dunrobyn Park was also awarded the Perpetual P&A Centenary Trophy for the most successful exhibitor of the show.

The breeder of the cattle, David Schouten of Gravesend, was very pleased with the results. The yearlings and Steers were by “Wheelview” bulls and the vealers were sired by two bulls, a home-bred bull from a Sixpence Park sire, and new sire, Wallawong Uncovered.

Wallawong Uncovered also sired two steers that competed at the recent Sydney Royal Show. One placing 4th from 19 exhibits in the led lightweight steer and 8th in the carcase class, scoring 83.5 points and winning a bronze medal for carcase. The other steer placed 8th from 24 exhibits in the middleweight carcase class.

Joining the breeding program is the recently purchased sire “Wallawong Waterboy”. His carcase EBV’s support his physical appearance being in the top 1% for EMA EBV.
