Murray Grey Hoof and Hook Results IGA Perth Royal 2014

A purebred Murray Grey steer exhibited by Murdoch University and bred by Gary and Julie Buller, Monterey Murray Greys, was judged Grand Champion Carcase at this year’s 2014 IGA Perth Royal Show.
With a live weight of 474kg, the steer dressed at 57.3 per cent with a hot standard carcase weight (HSCW) of 271.8kg. It also recorded 95cm2 for EMA, 10mm for P8 fat, 9mm for rib fat and an MSA index of 63.67. It scored perfect marks for P8 fat, meat colour, fat distribution, rib fat, EMA and 38.67 out of 45 for eating quality. On the hoof, the steer was sashed Champion Heavyweight and Reserve Grand Champion led steer or heifer. Murray Greys featured prominently in the hoof and hook classes, also taking out the Rob Milner Trophy for a group of three purebred steers.
