Vale Mrs Bettine McFarland
April 4, 2014Mrs Bettine McFarland, better known as Betty or Mrs Mac by her fellow Murray Grey friends, passed away on 21st March at Wodonga at the age of 93.
Betty and her husband Ron established the Corrick Murray Grey Stud in the 1960s. In the earlier years they ran a very successful Jersey stud on the property. After the death of her husband, Betty devoted her time to breeding and showing her Murray Greys. Betty was passionate about her Murray Greys and was often seen on her pony riding amongst the herd, well into her late seventies.
The Corrick Murray Grey Stud exhibited as many of the Royal shows very successfully, winning many Champion ribbons. One of the highlights was Corrick Pretty Kate winning Junior Champion Heifer at the 1988 Royal Melbourne Show, then returning the following year to be sashed Senior and Grand Champion Female.
Betty will be remembered fondly by many, also for her love of the Murray Greys.
