Expanded PEN of 3 Beef Cattle Competition

The inaugural Pen of 3 Grass Fed Cattle Competition for steers or heifers was very successful & the Wagga Show Society in association with Teys – Wagga have expanded the competition to include a Pen of 3 Supplementary Fed steers or heifers.

The pens will receive a live evaluation by a highly experienced cattle buyer at the show, then after processing, Teys will produce a very detailed carcass assessment based on MSA & Teys’ specifications.

A comprehensive report including both live & carcass assessments will be created by Teys and confidentially made available to each individual producer.

Special arrangements with Teys will make it possible for producers to view & discuss their carcass presentation with Teys assessors.

Points are then tallied and positions created for each Pen of 3 weight section in either the Grass Fed or Grain Assisted sections.

While this is a competition, the main purpose of the event is education. Producers should use the competition to evaluate their breeds & on-farm management practices with the ultimate aim of producing top quality meat products for consumers.
