History was made at the Royal Bath and West Show as a Murray Grey – a breed developed in Australia – took the Supreme Beef Championship, beating much bigger animals.
The breed has been developed by crossing Aberdeen Angus with Shorthorns, and is known for its versatility, thriving in any environment.
It is the breed’s ability to convert grass into beef that impressed Scottish judge William McLaren.
Gill Finucane, from Carmarthen, was showing seven year old Ashrose Rita 15th while Arthur Stanbury led the cow’s three-month-old calf.
