Vale – Norm Fort

We received the news of the passing of a local Geelong icon – Norm Fort on Friday 6th Feb 2015 after a sustained battle with Parkinson’s disease . Norm worked for Elders ( before that DSM ) as cattle agent active in the 1970’s – 1980’s and was a key figure in the Geelong / Colac region in Western Victoria in the extensive promotion and growth of Murray Greys in both the stud & commercial area . Norm was a regular visitor to the annual Wodonga ( Albury ) Murray Grey Breed sale over an extended period . Norm visited The Glen to meet both Mervyn & Michael on a number of occasions to purchase both bulls and females . Norm was very active selling and promoting Murray Greys and was a member / Secretary of the Geelong Area Group Murray Grey Breed Promotion group and a member of the Geelong Agricultural & Pastoral Show Society which conducted the annual beef carcase competition through MC Herds . He was a very passionate promoter of the Murray Greys in the local Geelong region . Norm is survived by wife Judith and extensive family – his funeral will be this Wednesday 11th in Geelong .
