The Murray Grey national was boosted by the inaugural Woodbourn Murray Grey Youth National Stock Show on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Event chairman Bryce Whale, Glenliam Farm, Glen William, NSW, said getting 70 participants between the ages of six and 22 from throughout Australia had shown established breeders that passion for the breed would persist.

His daughter Annika, the Murray Grey Youth Australia president, she said the youth branch had hoped for 50 participants and were blown away by the response to the educational and competitive activities. Some participants were from Murray Grey studs, but many were friends or simply interested in cattle and connecting with other like-minded youth.

Annika said the event was made possible by the support of studs that brought extra cattle to ballot out to youth participants.
