Monterey Winter Sale Report
June 8, 2021The final bull sale of the season in WA, the Monterey Winter bull Sale, posted excellent results for the Buller family and the Monterey team.
The well presented team of 61 Murray Grey and Angus bulls meet spirited buying support from return and new buyer from throughout the State along with Interstate competition.
A very strong commercially focused sale with all lots snapped up by commercial operations.
Top price bull Lot 22, a Murray Grey, Monterey Status Quo Q254 a son of Monterey Limitless L198, sold to Ben Fredericks, Glendale Farms, Bridgetown, after spirited bidding in the shed and on Auctions Plus.
The late September born bull weighed 928kg on the 20th of April at scanning. His EMA was 129cm2 and IMF 6.5% with FS 6.8 and SC 45cm.
Glendale picked up 3 bulls in total, paying $7500 for 990kg Monterey Quadrant Q131 and an October born son of Ayr Park Honda for $5000.
A black Murray Grey bull, Lot 11 Monterey Quincy Q50 sold to Bettini Beef, Nangetti Station for $13000. Who also picked up the first silver into the ring, Monterey Quad for $10,000.
Quad, a late July born son of M. Lucky Strike L100, weighed 940kg with the highest EMA at 136cm2 and equal highest IMF at 7.1%.
In all Bettini’s purchased 13 bulls in total, 10 Murray Greys including 5 black Murray Greys and 3 Angus to average $8346.
The third top price grey bull, a low birth weight (+2.6) son of Monterey Matrix M109 at $9500, sold to Wulura Farms, Yallingup.
A naturally reared twin, Quentin Q158, impressed with his body type, stylish outlook, superior carcase with a B butt profile and 119cm2 EMA and IMF at 5.9%.
Other multiple buyers included A L Hill purchasing 2 bulls to $8000 and Laver Pty Ltd 2 bulls to average $5250.
In all 38 Murray Grey bulls sold to average $7351. The 29 ‘greys’ Sold to $17000 to average $7340 while the 9 black murray greys sold to $13000 to average $7390.
The 60/61 bulls sold for an overall average of $8132. Agents were Elders & Nutrien.
