The Murray Grey breed was represented with three studs coming together to offer eight bulls and they successfully achieved a 100pc clearance and averaged $4656 with a top of $6250.

David Corker, Wundam Park Murray Grey stud, Boyup Brook, took the $6250 top price honours for the breed when he sold his leading sire to renowned breeders Gary and Julie Buller, Monterey Murray Grey stud, Karridale.

The 824kg, February 2014- drop son of Pandora Stardust had a great look and scanned 115cm2 EMA, 5.2 IMF and 11mm and 10mm in rib and rump fats.

Mr Buller said the bull’s strong depth of pedigree appealed to him.

“I had a hard look at a couple of grandsires in its background over the years,” he said.

“There is a lot of superior type animals there and he should breed true to type and if he does we will be happy with him.

“We have a line of females in mind that we think he will mesh really well with.

“He has depth of body with quality structure, is smooth through the shoulders and an easy-doing type with softer muscling.

“But he is not over muscled and has a lot of fleshing.”

Wundam Park sold a second bull to Landmark Manjimup representative Brett Chatley for $4250, which took Mr Corker’s average to a solid $5250.

Young and enthusiastic breeder Harris Thompson, Mighty Murray Grey stud, Boyup Brook, returned for the third year running.

Rosenthal, Bridgetown, for Mighty Kinswood. The quiet son of Willawa Greys Gilby weighed 826kg and had scans of 130cm2 EMA, 6.4 IMF and 10mm and 11mm rib and rump fats.

The second Mighty bull offered was a son of Woodburn Warrior and went to JB Phillips for $3500, which aided the Mighty stud to average $4500 for its two bulls.

For the second consecutive year Cameron Harris, Nangara Murray Grey stud, Manjimup, offered four bulls and this year sold all four to a top of $5250 and a $4438 average.

Elders Boyanup agent Mal Barrett bought on behalf of top price and volume buyer Alec McNab, Scott River.
