Woodbourn Murray Grey Stud Sale Results

Woodbourn Murray Grey Stud, Tasmania, recorded an outstanding result at its on-property sale, with strong support from both commercial and stud buyers and an excellent clearance across the offering.

The bull draft was particularly well received, with 37 of 38 stud bulls selling and the sale topping at $23,000 for Lot 12, Woodbourn Veteran V48, purchased by commercial breeder with the under bidder also a breeder of commercial cattle.

Demand for the female offering was equally strong, with 22 of 23 stud females sold. Lot 46, Woodbourn Miss Sally S36, topped the female section at $9,000.

The commercial offering achieved a 100 per cent clearance, reaching a top of $3,800 per head, further demonstrating the strength of demand for Woodbourn genetics from commercial producers.

A highlight of the sale was the generous support shown by Charles and Janet Wallace towards the Murray Grey Youth Program. Their donated heifer, Woodbourn Miss Barbara V144, sold for $3,500, with the proceeds supporting Murray Grey Youth.

The result reflected strong confidence in the Woodbourn breeding program, with buyers prepared to invest across both the stud and commercial sections of the sale.
