AT their sixth on-property bull and female sale, Ian and Narelle Wilcox of Ayr Park Murray Greys, Woodstock, sold their genetics into three states, topping at $8000.
Eleven of the 20 bulls offered sold to an average of $4795 – up by over $1000 the previous year’s sale result.
The top price was also on the rise – increasing by $2000 on the 2015 sale.
The sale topper was Ayr Park Kondo, purchased by new clients, John Contarino and Terry Leary, Gadgarra Murray Grey stud, Atherton, Queensland.
Kondo weighed in at 752 kilograms, had a scrotal measurement of 42 centimetres and an eye muscle area (EMA) 115 centimetres squared.
The Queensland buyers also took home three 12-month-old unjoined heifers to a top of $3200 on their way to an average of $2633.
The second highest price bull was knocked down for $6000 to more new clients, Richard and Josephine Martin of Bungendore. The couple also purchased a yearling bull for $5250.
Robert Haig of Braidwood secured one bull for $5500, while Darren Mirtschin, Swan Hill, Victoria, purchased two bulls, both at $4000.
P.A. Mahoney, “Somerset”, Crookwell, paid $4500 for one bull and Tim Dryer of Young paid $4500 for one.
The offering of 11 yearling females averaged $2444 for nine lots sold. The top price of $3400 was paid by repeat clients, Andrew and Sharon Gunn, Mundalola Murray Grey stud, Attunga, for a 12-month-old unjoined heifer, Ayr Park Amethyst L60.
D.W. and D.M. Dagg, “Villarette”, Browns Creek paid $2500 for one heifer, while Cameron Harris, Atherton, QLD purchased two heifers for $2600 and $1800.
Mr Wilcox said in the six sales they have had, they have sold to all parts of Australia except the Northern Territory.
“We had a lot of positive feed back about the quality of the cattle in the sale,” Mr Wilcox said. “Unfortunately a lot of people couldn’t make the sale because of flooding.”
